The Geo-Diary is a great way to work on Geography with students. The best part about the Ge-Diary is that each will be individualized to each student. The students are required to take pictures of places or things that they see every day. While they are taking these photos, the students need to take into account the direction the photo is being taken. More importantly, students must use their knowledge on geography and search for the role that it plays in their daily lives. |

The integrated literacy assignment is a PowerPoint that provides resources aligned with the GLEC 2-G1.0.1 (Construct maps of the local community that contain symbols, labels, and legends denoting human and natural characteristics of places). This presentation has multiple resources that fit any teachers needs. There are resources such as; books, music, poetry, lesson plans, primary sources,film clips and example maps. |
CDV's In The News
Core Democratic Values In The News is a great activity for students to take apart in. The idea of this activity is for students to elaborate on the Core Democratic Values and apply them to a current issue going on in our society. This can be done by looking at the newspaper or articles online. Students must use their knowledge and figure out which Core Democratic Value the article is applicable to along with figuring out the branch and level of government that would be involved with the case. The must also summarize the article. This activity is a great way for students to practice what they have learned and make them conscious of the Core Democratic Values that surface in many current events in our society. |
Economic Mysteries The economic mystery presents students with an everyday life scenario. Students are asked to solve a series of true and false questions, short answer, and more. With the use of the students Handy Dandy Guide, students are able to solve the mystery. This Guide applies idea of economics into solving each mystery. |

The Library of Congress web quest is great for all students to endure in. By doing such a web quest, students become aware of the many resources that this website provides. It may be overwhelming, though this website has so many great resources about our history that one could never imagine to find! |
Unit Plan
The Grade Level Content Expectation under second grade The World in Spatial Terms and Human Systems help students look at their community at large. The students learn how to construct their own maps of their community, including all key points of a map. They will learn how to use those maps to explain location. Under Human Systems, the student learn how the land is used in their community, along with why people move products, and ideas around their community. |
