This site focuses on everything government related and touches on the legislative, executive, and judicial branches. Congress For Kids This website provides a lot of valuable information. There are provided quizzes, information about; our independence, the constitution, legislative, executive, and judicial branch. There is also information about elections and citizenship. Each page leads to sub-pages that contain information about the selected topic. iCivics iCivics is a great website for students and teachers. This website has many areas that you can explore and look though. There is an area for students to play games that teach civics lessons. There also is a section for teachers that includes unit plans and tools you can use to teach a civics lesson. Government for Kids This website has compiled various resources that are geared toward grades K-5. The resources are educational websites that students can explore to expand their knowledge of the American government. For teachers, there are various links of other websites that have fun activities for teachers to use in their classrooms that incorporate various subjects. PBS Teachers Another website for teachers is PBS Teachers. This website also has more useful lesson plans for your class. It also provides example projects that can be done in class or for homework. Economics 101 This website outlines the main vocabulary and necessities that students should know when they study economics. There is a quiz at the top over what the students have learned. This is a great technology resource for introducing vocabulary and basic understandings about economics. Economics for Kids The Economy for Kids Special Report collects resources and articles to help you make sense of the economy, how it works, and what makes it such a vital part of our lives. Economics for Teachers Strives to promote excellence in economic education by helping teachers of economics become more effective educators. Econ Dictionary Vocabulary is a large part of teaching economics. This websites shows students various economic words and their definitions. Some words have videos giving students a visual representation of what the words mean. Teachers can use this website to teach their students vocabulary for economics. Ben's Guide to U.S. Government for Kids This website is split up by grades K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12, and parents and teachers. In each category there is different information about our government. There are games and activities in each section, connectors to different websites, information about our nation, and much more. Each category varies greatly. The great thing for teachers is that there are web links to different sites, curriculum links, and more. Library of Congress The Library of Congress website is great for teachers and students. This website provides materials for any history topic that you would like to know about. Each topic is broken down into subtopics so material is easier to find, and it is also broken down by material as well. So there are categories for maps, pictures, and sound recordings. But there are also categories for religion, art, and sports. History For Kids This website is an interactive way for students to learn world history. Students can click on different Countries, historical events and even time periods and see various historical events that happened in that place or during that time. For teachers, there are examples and ideas of projects for your students to do using this. History Teachers The History Teachers website provides a ton of things that would be useful in the classroom. There are links to timelines, journals, lesson plans, resources, how to write a term paper, and many more interesting things. This website also provides quizzes and exams and videos on everything you need to teach. I Love History This website is very visually appealing to children. It provides information about historic individuals that made a monumental impact on our world, places in the United States, events that have occurred over time, topics such as livelihood, government, documents, and water. Geography 4 Kids This website is a great introductory substance into the earth's sciences. This site discusses topics such as the earth's atmosphere, energy, hydrosphere, biosphere, and climates. This seems like a very welcoming site to children. There are pictures provided when explaining specific things about the earth and I think that helps children create a visual in their mind focusing on what they are learning about. Geography World This website is great and so resourceful for teachers! There is multiple categories on this site that teachers can discover more links under. Each page lists about 30 if not more links that direct to pages about the teachers topic of interest. Kids Geo Includes an online geography textbook for students. Chapters one through nine give the students an opportunity to learn about the world around them. The book focuses on the basics of geography made up of the surface, atmosphere, oceans, and distribution of plants, animals, and people. Map Puzzles This site can be used for an assessment. All of the maps require students to have a knowledge of geography of not only the US but the rest of the World. There are puzzles for the location of states, countries and capitals as well as US and World features. UMapper This is a very interactive website that can be great fun for the students, and the teachers will appreciate it. There is a section of this website that is a game where you have to click on the state on the map of the United States, but here's the thing, there are no state boundary lines. The second part of the website is an activity where the students can build their own interactive map with pictures from google maps and everywhere else! There are games on this website that help students learn about change, how to get dressed, and just dealing with the day to day activities that everyone has to go through. There are also other links on this website to other websites that provide more information and more games for students to play. Apps For Children This is a great website that gives many good examples of apps that can be used for children with special needs. These apps can be used on an iPad or any piece of technology that can deal with these applications. Do 2 Learn This website is very crucial for Special Education teachers to view. It provides an abundance of knowledge for teachers to integrate into their classrooms. For example, there are sample picture cards, songs, games, an emotions color wheel, and more. There is also a categories that provide lesson plans for units revolving around academic, social skills, behavior management, and specific disabilities. Seri- Special Education Resources on the Internet This website focuses upon all ranges of special needs. This site provides a variety of resources for many disabilities such as learning disability, gifted & talented, ADD, and more. There are also resources for parents to view, information of medication, and general information about disabilities. Brain Fun This site is full of educational games and resources for children. This can apply to multiple subject matters. Teacher Blog It This website is used by students and teachers to either turn in work or to post assignments. Students can interact with their peers and the teacher all in one sitting all on one blog. This website also allows for teachers to make comments on the work that the students turn in. This means that all of the work and comments are all in one place and there is no need for any waste of paper. Pinterest is a great way for teachers to find lessons that other teacher have shared on the web.
